What should you eat after a workout?

What is the most important thing to think about nutritionally to any person regardless of their fitness goal?


Is it protein? Is it limiting calories? Is it limiting fats?

While protein intake initially after a workout can be important to give the body a quick protein boost to rebuild muscle, one should always think about post-exercise CARB intake.


Why? Because it's the main fuel source of the body. No matter how much protein you eat, if your body has insufficient energy after you use it all exercising, the protein will just go straight to powering the body instead of helping rebuild muscle. Insufficient energy also can lead to general fatigue and tiredness which can impact future workouts ❌


A good ballpark is 1.5 g/kg bodyweight of carbs to help your body refuel after a workout ✅
