No one doubts the importance of hydration in any healthy diet, but just how much should one drink daily? How much is enough to prepare and replenish the body before, during, and after exercise? Below are some tips on how to maintain hydrated throughout the day and during exercise:
•Drink 14-22 ounces of water two hours leading up to exercise
•Drink 6-12 ounces every 15-20 minutes of exercise
•If exercising over an hour, include a sports drink such as gatorade to assist in replenishing energy
•Drink about 16-24 ounces of water for every pound of weight lost during exercise
•Aim to drink 90-130 ounces of water daily
